CADMAN® offers automated bend solutions for most parts – these optimized programs and 3D part simulations are automatically delivered to the press brake.

Hi, I’m Roman! Welcome to wizards of flow. Right now, let’s take a look at optimising and automating the process of finding the bend solution for your parts.

Obviously, it should be clear by now that we don't want to program on the press break. This just turns our press break into an expensive computer so we want to do it offline. But we also don't want someone just clicking mindlessly all day long to make bend solutions. Instead we want to completely automate the process.

With CADMAN SDI we can simply import the parts. Cadman SDI sends the parts to CADMAN B to create an automated bend solution and Cadman B notifies Cadman SDI whether or not the bend solution finding process was successful. This means you only need manual intervention for the parts that don’t have an automatic bend solution, which means you save 90 to 95% of your day. These are huge savings and a huge bonus in terms of flow.

So in Cadman SDI we simply click ‘add’ and select all the parts that we want to run in one batch. Click ‘open’. Cadman SDI will verify part geometry and try to find a bend solution for all these parts.

After a couple of minutes we can see that Cadman SDI and Cadman B have found a valid bend solution for all the parts. We can tell by the green status bar below the bending icon. Right now, all that remains is to click on ‘release for manufacturing’ and the bend solutions are saved into the Cadman database. Now we see the parts and the bend solutions on the machine.

We've arrived at the press brake. Right now, on the press brake controller we're in the parts database. You can simply set the filter to ‘today’ so you can see all the parts we've programmed today. All parts that were programmed by Cadman B and Cadman SDI just a few moments ago are in here. All that remains is to select one of the parts. Now we get a full simulation and the operator knows exactly what to do.

So you see that with very limited effort in the office we made bend solutions for all these parts. This means that your flow and efficiency on the press brake is as high as it can be.

That’s it for wizards of flow right now. See you in the next session!
