
Assembly Supervisor
Position location: Buffalo, NY
Responsible for the effective leadership, supervision, and coordination of assembly department, employees and coordination of related non-production operations and services to achieve effective, measurable levels of productivity. Main areas of responsibility to include mechanical and electrical assembly, paint, and packing.
Essential functions
- Maintain production schedules and estimate material and standard hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Responsible for the daily practice of world class manufacturing principles which are to also include, but not limited to, lean and 5S applications.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving problems.
- Maintains daily time and attendance records using ERP LN including OT and the scheduling of all vacation.
- Schedules production needs to meet required delivery dates and maximize efficiency.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Interprets company policies to workers, safety regulations. and enforces company rules.
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setups and adjustments or maintenance of machines or equipment.
- Maintain fair and equitable relations with Union and other Union representatives.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work group.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Participate in the interview and selection process of internal and external candidates for job openings.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Two (2) year Associates Degree in Engineering or Technical Discipline or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing / unionized environment.

- Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate and interact with others.
- Safety conscious
Technical skills/special requirements
- Previous experience coordinating the implementation and maintenance of lean and 5S principles required.

- Must be available for OT and off-shift requirements as production deems necessary.
- Effective utilization of MRP business operating system (ERP LN) and other related computer programs (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Familiarization with metal forming equipment desired, able to read / interpret machine shop & assembly related drawings.
- Experience with electrical safety and heavy equipment rigging.
- Will be required to work in a manufacturing environment on a daily basis.
- Occasional lifting requirements up to approximately 50 pounds.
