
Software Engineer - USA
Position location: Buffalo, NY
Develops specifications for moderately complex software programming applications, user interfaces, and modifies/maintains existing software for machine tool controls. Develops, modifies and maintains applications that may be customized or standardized. Participates in design and coding activities with other staff members.
Description
- Ability to write and debug computer software for applications in which the computer interacts in real time with a process and/or machine tool or ancillary device
- Ability to organize software and define software modules with consistent interfaces so that each can be developed separately and integrated into a workable control product
- Primary support of existing numerical and computer controls for machine tool products. In part to include analysis of control/machine systems, specific control requirements along with the design and packaging of production systems.
- Maintains and modifies existing applications on their own as well as under the direction of other engineering team members
- Performs maintenance programming for existing versions
- Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all CADMAN offline programming software
- Will provide support to the design and development process associated with new machine tool products as needed
- Occasional support of trade show initiatives
- Perform other duties assigned as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Previous co-op or internship experience strongly desired

- Ability to effectively comprehend and communicate technical concepts
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
- Strong time & project management skills

- Able to collaborate and interact with others
Technical skills/special requirements
- Must have working knowledge of C# and C++ is required
- Familiarization with SQL server strongly desired
- Work environment will consist of a regular office setting with frequent exposure to a manufacturing setting
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion
- Occasional domestic / international travel required
- No other employees directly report to this position
